James’ Coaching Bio
A former A-League Grand Final winner during his playing days with Melbourne Victory, James’ career in Australia also saw the Liverpool-born forward turn out for Perth Glory and North Queensland Fury across five A-League seasons. An Academy graduate of the famous Crewe Alexandra production line, James has been a part of leading youth development programmes for more than twenty years.
The AFC Pro License holder has been with Brisbane Roar now, overseeing the National Youth League and U19 NPL program since September 2016. James’ transition into professional coaching began as player-coach of Ballarat Red Devils in 2014, where his enthusiasm and detailed football knowledge played a crucial part in the Victorian side finishing an impressive fourth place and earned him the accolade of NPL Coach of the Year.
James works closely with John Aloisi, Ross Aloisi and the Hyundai A-League side on a daily basis, replicating the First Team environment and processes within the U19 program. He plays a crucial role at the club in ensuring a our young players are prepared for the demands of First Team football and has proudly overseen the transition of players such as Joe Calletti, Nic D’Agostino and Shannon Brady into the Hyundai A-League squad.
